The business is located very close to the Greek-Bulgarian border and near the Promachonas border station. It is established on a privately owned area of 16 acres, within which lie the water springs used for the operation of the fish farm.
It is a form of family business in which participate: Tasssis Georgios - Managing Director, Tasssis Konstantinos - Production Manager, Tagkas Gerasimos.
It was founded in the year 1980 and initially dealt only with the production of trout, which at first was marketed for consumption in fresh form. In 1983, a restaurant of approximately 300 seats began operating, taking advantage of the idyllic landscape in which it is located. In 1988, it engaged for the first time in the processing of its primary production, with very good results and continuous improvement.
Ten years later, having now achieved excellent results in terms of product quality, it implemented an expansion and modernization program of the processing unit, which made it unique in its quality. At the same time, it began experimenting with other types of fish and today it is ready to offer top-quality smoked eel. A plan is already in place to modernize the aquaculture unit, aiming to increase its capacity and cover the raw material needs of the processing unit to the greatest possible extent. The company was early on oriented towards the vertical integration of its production. Its primary rule has always been the achievement of the best possible quality.
The production conditions are excellent, especially after the completion of the unit improvement plan. It is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, a microbiological and quality control laboratory, and strict adherence to good hygiene practices is maintained. During production, no chemical preservatives or artificial colorants are used, and fish that have consumed antibiotics are excluded.
